What is Dental Implantation

A dental implantation is a process of placing of an artificial tooth in place of missing tooth. It is a process of restoration of tooth after removal of original tooth, which may be due to tooth decay or tooth loss in case of injury or other reasons. This tooth restoration is done in such a way that it does not affect the other teeth.

Now-a-days, dental implantation is also used in providing support to the tooth structures which are partially affected, without having the need to remove it; to provide anchorage to dentures; and in cases of dental bridges and crowns.

The artificial tooth that is implanted resembles like the other original teeth in the set. Previously these missing teeth were restored by materials such as gold or other metals. But in modern times the dental implantation is root for endosseous implants. These implants contain osseous integrates along with Titanium posts. The osseous (bone) integrates are used to make them look similar to the original teeth, while the titanium posts help in binding these integrates with the jaw bone. This method of implantation is found to be very safe and is thus highly recommended.

The dental implantation is found to have very high success rate. It is helpful in removing the teeth without having the need to disturb other structures. It is also useful in giving an aesthetic look to our face, by covering the spaces or bridges, thereby increasing an individual's self confidence and it is also the most reliable method.
