Basically four types of home drug test kits are used. They are urine, saliva, hair follicle, and sweat test kits.

Urine Home Drug Test Kits:
Urine home drug test kits are the common types of kits used. The results of these kits are accurate and relatively fast. The urine home drug kits are cost effective and can be used easily.

Saliva Home Drug Test Kits:
Saliva home drug test kits, also called oral drug test kits, are able to detect the drug that is consumed recently. The advantage of this test kit is that it cannot be manipulated. These kits are also cost effective, accurate and easy to use. However, drug that is consumed more than two to three days before the test cannot be detected with these kits.

Hair Follicle Home Drug Test Kits:
Hair Follicle Home Drug Test Kits are a bit more expensive when compared to others and are much accurate. People cannot manipulate when these are used for drug testing. Hair can be taken from any part of the body including head, chest, arm pit and skin. The tests performed by these kits are termed zero tolerance tests because even the smallest amount of drug can be detected.

Sweat Home Drug Test Kits:
Sweat Home Drug Test Kits are not commonly used for drug test. In this method, a patch is attached to skin and left for one to two weeks. These are sent for further analysis to the laboratory. However, this does not give reliable results.
