Kia Motors Plans to Enter the Indian Market

As the demand in the sales of the cars are increasing day by day, the markets in US and Europe are not promising, many companies are concentrating on the Indian market. Many companies are being set up in Indian market. In the same way, the South-Korean based car manufacturers, Kia motors are planning to set up their manufacturing unit in India.

It is planning to set a manufacturing unit near Chennai. These motors are famous for producing the value for money cars for many years and the company is showing interest in manufacturing the good looking cars. The company is planning to produce the sedans and the hatchbacks.


Kia motors is partly owned by Hyundai. Although Kia is partly owned by Hyundai, a very less help will be given to company like sourcing suppliers and dealers, as Kia is starting as a separate entity. During the year 2009, 1.5 million cars were sold.


The company officials are forecasting their sales according to the sales of Hyundai which was started in 1998. The plant will be set up by 2012. As of now, the company is testing feasibility to select a site in Chennai.


As most of the top manufacturers are concentrating on the compact car segment , Kia will also manufacture this type of cars. The best selling models of Kia are B-segment Rio, C-segment Cerato/Forte and Sportage compact sports utility vehicle, Sorento mid-size compact utility vehicle and Soul. Across the world, the sales are about 820,613 units for the first five months. This is about 38.9% increment.
