Windows Mobile Operating System provides backup to phone's information

Windows mobile operating system is compressed operating system, developed by Microsoft. It is designed to yield PC like experience on smartphone. This operating systems is found on Dell, HP, Motorola, Palm and i-mate products. It occupies 9% of smartphone market. This operating system supports mobile version of Microsoft Office Applications like MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint. The updated windows mobile operating system has few attachments like a backup and restore service, an improved mobile Web browser and application store.

Features of Updated Windows mobile OS:

My Phone service: This service enables user to have password-protected web service. It provides automatic backup and synching, so contacts, appointments, text messages, and other information can be stored into this service and can be retrieved (restored) easily from this service, when phone is misplaced or when phone is changed.

Internet Explorer Mobile: It supports many features of latest Internet Explorer like Flash and Javascript. It accommodates advanced tools for good page navigation, Zoom in/out and a feature that indicates position in Web page. Apart from these, Microsoft enabled web browser to support transactions like checking flights, buying movie tickets etc., unlike other web browsers.

New user interface: This feature makes user to view missed calls, new messages, upcoming appointments and voicemails at a glance even when phone is in locked state.

Strengths:
  • Windows mobile operating system is associated with Microsoft Outlook and Exchange.

  • It can work on different platforms of hardware of many handsets and carriers.

Weaknesses:
  • It is old mobile operating system
  • It is not as powerful as iphone OS and android OS.
  • Redesign of windows mobile operating system user interface is required and it is slow.
