Advantages of Contact Lenses During Sporting Activities

It is because of the stable vision provided by the contact lenses that many people prefer to use them in place of eyeglasses. Even many activities like jumping, running, twisting and diving during sports may create problems if you wear eyeglasses. It is very much beneficial to wear contact lenses during such sports activities. Have a look on some of their advantages.
  • Contact lenses provide greater stability in the vision. Eyeglasses may worry you of various disturbances when you run. They may fall off or slide on your eyes and may irritate you. This may even affect your visibility. However, contact lenses remove all these problems and enable a stable vision.
  • No distortion or obstruction due to the eyeglasses frames is associated with contact lenses and they enable the unobstructed field vision. They also allow you to look at more of the surroundings and react faster to the objects coming to you.
  • They also enable a better peripheral vision. It is known that several sports eyeglasses have relatively flat lenses and small frames. However, they are considered to limit the peripheral vision which is essential during any of the above activities. Whereas, contact lenses are just in your eyes and are not at all associated with any of these issues and hence, enable a perfect peripheral vision.
  • They do not get fogged up with any changes in temperature. You can even dive underwater wearing contact lenses. They remain clear at various environmental or weather conditions such as rain.
  • They are disposable and are also less susceptible to dirt. Some of them are even considered to protect against UV rays in bright sunlight.
  • No chances of injury are evident with the use of contact lenses during jumping, diving or any other activity.

It is because of these benefits that athletes consider to prefer contact lenses to eyeglasses.
